Breathing Well? Yoga series with Pam Ferner
Let your body breathe: WHY?
- Ease in good posture
- Improved sleep quality
- Better digestion
- Know and be able to access your core muscles and movements
- Enhanced cognitive function
- Emotional attunement with self and others
- Go-to relaxation skills
- Improved circulation
Imagine your respiratory diaphragm muscle not only at the center of your core but as the heart of your body systems. In her recent book Body by Breath, Jill Miller wrote:
In addition to being your prime mover of respiration, it’s integral to multiple structures that keep you upright, moving, digesting, circulating, pumping lymph, and more.
In my upcoming yoga series you will tune into your respiratory diaphragm muscle while discovering more room to move and breathe in your pelvis, releasing tension in your shoulders and neck, creating mobility in your ribcage. Sound good?
The yoga series also covers some anatomy to better understand the biomechanics of the area addressed.
You will also leave class feeling more at peace. Yoga is amazing that way.
This upcoming yoga series at Kingston Integrated Healthcare incorporates yoga movement (asana), breath practices and the use of a few different kinds of therapy balls. You bring your yoga mat; all other props will be provided, including this beauty (called the coregeous ball) which is soft and squishy so it does not feel intrusive.
